Duolingo Review

Duolingo has to be the most well-known free resource, specially for beginners, and it has some excellent features, including a placement test for more advanced learners. The 'fluency percentage' awarded that I personally don't like (how do they arrive at this figure based on a very small sample of language?)  is doubtless aimed at supporting motivation.  The course is highly structured and controlled, with vocabulary themes chosen by the programme rather than the learner. As long as you do not mind this, Duolingo will be a useful resource for your early learning.
